1st National Saffron Quality Competition

1st National Saffron Quality Competition

The company Bealar SL, located in Motilla del Palancar, has won the first national saffron quality competition organised by the Calamocha Trade Fair Institution and the Jiloca Saffron Producers' Association, in Calamocha (Teruel), in which 13 producers from different regions of the country took part.

The jury of this first competition, whose aim is to promote saffron in Spain, decided that the best saffron was the one marketed by the company from Motril under the brand name La Rosera, and this was announced in the decision which was made public at the ExpoCalamocha fair.

With a cultivation area of 10 hectares, the Bealar company is the main producer of organic saffron under the denomination of origin "Azafrán de La Mancha" and also one of the largest in the country.

The careful selection of the product, the artisanal process in all stages of production, harvesting, peeling, roasting and packaging, as well as the exhaustive control that guarantees the excellent quality of the product, are widely recognised, as demonstrated, for example, by the ten Gran Selección de Castilla-La Mancha awards that the company has obtained, but above all by the loyalty of its customers, both in Spain and abroad.

The United States, Canada, England and the United Arab Emirates are some of the countries to which the company from Motilla exports, which, according to a press release from Expo Calamocha, was "delighted" to receive the prize in the 1st National Saffron Quality Competition.
